Why Choose a Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter?

HV1

When considering buying a log splitter, a lot of folks start by asking whether a horizontal or vertical splitter is best.  There are certainly benefits to both: with a horizontal splitter you’re working at a comfortable height, but with a vertical splitter you don’t have to lift those big, heavy rounds up onto the splitting beam.  It’s a tough decision, so we don’t think you should have to make it!

Decide on a Log-by-Log Basis

With a Horizontal/Vertical log splitter, you don’t have to commit to either a horizontal or vertical orientation for the entire life of your splitter.  Or worse, invest in two separate splitters to do the same job two different ways.  In fact, you don’t even have to commit to one orientation for an entire afternoon.  A lot of people like to do all their smaller logs first in the horizontal position, then switch to the vertical position and finish off all the big guys — or vice versa.

With the new DR Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter, switching between the horizontal and vertical positions is quick and easy.  Simply pull out the pin out, pivot the splitting beam, and reinsert the pin.  No tools required.

Your Back will Thank You

Your biggest rounds can easily weigh a couple hundred pounds, and lifting them up onto a splitting beam is murder on your back.  Splitting in the vertical position, those big rounds can be rolled into position and split right on the ground.  Some people even like to sit on a stool and split, turning the log after each split to chip away usable pieces.

The Four-Way Wedge

If splitting one way is good, splitting four ways is four times better!  Step up to even more time- and back-saving convenience with the optional Four-Way Wedge for the DR Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter.  Because it breaks a log into four pieces in a single ram cycle (as opposed to two pieces with a traditional wedge) it could cut your splitting time by as much as 50%.
